The Medina County Port Authority (MCPA) is a dynamic, county-wide organization that was created in October 2003, as the result of a collaborative effort between the Board of Medina County Commissioners and the Medina County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC).
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING: Wednesday, May 6, 2026 – 10:00AM – 144 N Broadway Street Suite 119 Medina OH 44256.
Notice is hereby given that on May 6, 2026, a public hearing will be held by the Medina County Port Authority (the “Authority”) at 144 N. Broadway Street, Medina, Ohio 44256, Suite 119, commencing at 10:00 a.m., with respect to the proposed deemed reissuance of the tax exempt Medina County Port Authority Variable Rate Revenue Bonds, Series 2016 (Altenheim Rehabilitation Facilities Project), originally issued in the principal amount of $8,755,000 (the “Bonds”). The proceeds of the Bonds were used (i) to finance the acquisition, construction, installation, equipping and improvement of a short term rehabilitation and skilled nursing center comprising approximately 31,000 square feet, featuring inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation gyms and 32 private patient rooms and a storage facility of approximately 1,000 square feet; and (ii) to pay certain expenses incurred in connection with the issuance of the Bonds. The facilities financed with the proceeds of the Bonds are all located on the Strongsville campus of West Side Deutscher Frauen Verein, also known as the “Altenheim” (the “Borrower”), 18627 Shurmer Rd., Strongsville, Ohio 44136, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio and operated by the Borrower. The proceeds of the Bonds were loaned by the Authority to the Borrower pursuant to a loan agreement. The Bonds are special obligations of the Authority, payable solely from funds provided by the Borrower as loan payments, and do not constitute a debt or a pledge of the faith and credit or the taxing power of the Authority or any agency, instrumentality or political subdivision of the State. This public hearing is required by section 147(f) of the Code. Persons wishing to express their views on the proposed deemed reissuance may appear at the hearing or may submit their views in writing. Any written submissions should be sent to the attention of Bethany Dentler, CEcD, Administrator of the Medina County Port Authority, 144 N. Broadway Street, Suite 119, Medina, Ohio 44256, clearly marked “Re: Altenheim Project”. Written submissions should be mailed in sufficient time to be received on or before 10:00 a.m. on May 6, 2026.
